Independently of their own respective projects, Alba D'Urbano and Tina Bara have worked together as an artistic duo since 2000. Both have been professors at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (Academy of Visual Arts) in Leipzig since the mid-1990s, and have collaborated there as art instructors since 2002, developing student projects and realizing:
Their joint artistic projects are based on common contentual, thematic and aesthetic concerns, and repeatedly invoke the human body as a matrix of social inscriptions, and involved processoriented, media-reflexive, conceptual and poetic methodologies. Performative elements play a prominent role in all of these works, i.e. the execution or staging of actions by the human figure within specific spatial environments.
